Tsunami Gauges

The image below represents a snapshot of the latest tsunami gauge recordings for operational gauges in the New Zealand region.

The timestamp shown at the top right of the diagram below is the time when this image was last refreshed. The previous 36 hours of sea level variations from all operational sites are displayed, oldest to most recent from left to right. The most obvious feature of these recordings is the natural daily tidal variation, about 12 hours between each high or low tide. For the locations of the gauges, see the tsunami network map.
