The Kermadec Islands, located about 750 - 1,000 km north-east of New Zealand, are some of the most active offshore volcanoes in New Zealand. The Kermadec Islands are the summits of large volcanoes that have been built on the crest of the Kermadec Ridge. There are also several submarine volcanoes.
