Situation Summary
As of 10:00 the situational status is:
- From 20:00 to 00:00 there was an increase in the volcanic tremor levels, but the level attained was lower than those experienced in the past few days. No discrete eruption-related earthquakes have been recorded since 01:00 30 September.
- No observations of the summit have been made because conditions are not suitable for observational flights.
- No reports of eruptive activity have been received. The last lahar producing event was the 08:40 event on 29 September (some 49 hours ago) and the last explosive eruption 01:00 30 September (31 hours ago).
- The rainfall today may produce sediment-loaded runoff in most catchments.
Conclusions and Alert Status
The Alert Level for Ruapehu remains at Level 4.
