Situation Summary
As of 19:00 the situational status is:
- Volcano seismicity has remained at near pre-eruption levels for most of the day. No discrete eruption-related earthquakes have been recorded since 01:00 30 September.
- No observations of the summit have been made as conditions have not been suitable for observational flights. The COSPEC team got airborne obtaining a restricted data set.
- No reports of eruptive activity have been received. The last lahar producing event was the 08:40 event on 29 September (some 58 hours ago) and the last explosive eruption 01:00hr 30 September (40 hours ago).
- The rainfall today may produce sediment-loaded runoff in most catchments.
Conclusions and Alert Status
The Alert Level for Ruapehu remains at Level 4.
