Jun 30 1996, 12:00 pm - Ruapehu Volcano

Science Alert Bulletin RUA-1996/24 - Update

The seismic activity remains at the low level, although at slightly higher levels than yesterday. The long term level of volcanic tremors at Dome continues at ~10% of that recorded during the peak of eruptive activity on June 17.

There are no visual observations of the volcano this morning due to cloud cover. Level of activity at the volcano is likely to be similar to that of Friday and Saturday with quiet steam emissions and a gas-rich plume (vog) drifting towards the east-south-east.

The alert level remains at 3.
